Brownie Trifle

This is one of those desserts you have to make for special occasions. It could be a birthday, Eid or even an anniversary to share with your loved ones. Because it just puts a big smile on their faces.

Yes as all good things this does take some amount of work but I have divided into easy steps plus how you can work a few steps ahead so you wont be running around the kitchen like a headless chicken.

For this trifle, there are four components. You can make them all a few days ahead so let us start with the ones which you can make even a week ahead and keep in the store cupboard.

I have done a few desserts using Dulce de leche. It takes two to 3 hours to cook in boiling water. Check here on how to make it. Cool the tin and store it without opening it until it is needed.

Next is the brownie. you can make the brownie a day ahead and store it in a plastic container, just make sure the kids don't eat it or the husband in my house.

You can make the praline the day before along with the brownie. Cool and pulse it a few times and store in a clean glass bottle in the fridge. Click here to check out how to make the perfect caramel and praline.

Finally a few hours before serving,  preferably 2-3 hours ahead of serving, whip the cream.

Then assemble, break or crumble the brownie at the base of a trifle bowl or serving glasses.

Then spoon some dulce de Leche,

Then some praline,

Then top with a few spoons of cream.

Repeat a second layer of brownie, dulce de leche, praline and then cream

Top with some more praline bits and grated chocolate just to decorate.

Any leftover dulce de Leche can be stored in  a clean bottle in the fridge and used in ice creams or try some of the other desserts I have here in the blog

Even the praline can be stored in the fridge in a clean bottle and topped on ice creams.
