Masmirus spagetti

So  I wanted to share a simple recipe using minimum ingredients, when I  came up with this simple pasta dish.

There are so many families affected by the recent lockdowns and some are trying hard to keep their heads above their water. So I am trying my best to share recipes that are simple to make but still a winner with the family especially the kids.

Masmirus is a staple in my store cupboard. It is a spicy mixture of dried tuna, curry leaves, and dried chillies all ground, and fried into a bottle of yumminess.  My husband's aunt makes the best masmirus, although we ran out of it for ages.

Have tried different brands of masmirus, the one that we love is the Masmirus brand.

This recipe is very similar is an even easier version of my fast and easy pasta dish.  Since everyone seems to love Aglio Olio, I decided to skip the dried chilli and added masmirus instead, along with some fresh curry leaves and a little lime juice and of course loads of garlic.

Masmirus spaghetti

Ingredients:

  • 250g - 300g Spaghetti
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp mas mirus
  • 8 curry leaves, finely shredded
  • 1/2 lime
  • salt to taste
  • 4-5 tbsp olive oil
  • salted water to cook the pasta

Instructions:

  1. Bring a pan of salted water to a boil, add the pasta and cook the pasta till al dente'.
  2. While the pasta is cooking, heat some olive oil in a large saucepan, add the garlic and saute till the raw smell of garlic disappears.
  3. Add the curry leaves and mas mirus  ( add mas mirus depending on your taste).
  4. Add a few ladles of the pasta cooking water( enough to make a sauce), and add a pinch of salt ( remember there is salt in the pasta water). Squeeze the lime juice, about 1 tsp.  Have a little taste.
  5. Then drain the pasta and toss it into the sauce.  Add a little more pasta water to loosen the pasta a little.
  6. Serve immediately.

  1. Masmirus...that's something new to me. But it has tuna in it, so it must be delicious! The pasta looks truly comforting and tasty, Nammi.
