Orange and strawberry fizz

It is the 10th of the month. I have missed so many of the monthly events at the Muslimah food blogger's group that I knew I had to make the effort and drop in a nice recipe this month. For this month's theme, it was to make a hot or cold drink, depending on what you are craving or the weather you are experiencing.

We are having the occasional rain. It isn't so hot, so I would say nice pleasant weather.  For me, the perfect thirst quencher needs to have a fizz, although I have cut down on my fizzy drinks. I hit the big 4-0 last month, so wanted to cut down on the carbonated drinks. But I love the occasional fizzy drink.

So anyway this is one of my new creations. The boys love it when I create these kinds of drinks. It is either lime and mint or my favorite with passionfruit and mint.  This one is a mixture of Sunquick orange, strawberries, some mint, and sprite.

I used frozen strawberries which are way cheaper than fresh ones and perfect for this drink. I let it thaw a bit and then mashed it with a fork with a handful of mint and a tablespoon of sugar and a little water. You can whizz it in the blender but I just was in no mood to use the blender.

Then mix in some Sunquick orange and pour in the sprite.

Stir and chill or you can pour immediately into glasses with lots of ice and sip away.
