Nutty Strawberry Smoothie

Drinking plain milk is not my thing. Yes, I have bad habits and being a woman just past 35, I know it's time I started to drink milk regularly or my bones are going give me trouble. Now for me, drinking milk is like taking medicine (LOL), my mother in law almost forces Milo down my throat every time I visit her, well not really force me but she makes this huge mug of Milo and I dutifully drink it down, while my hubby and sis in law give me cheeky smiles, both of them know I am not a big fan of the brew.
Anyway even though I am not a milk drinker I love yogurt so I decided to make smoothies more often. For flavour,  I threw in some frozen strawberries, which were much cheaper than a fresh punnet of strawberries, an overripe banana, some blanched and sliced almonds, yoghurt and milk and whizzed it up. I don't like it too thick, so I leave it to your liking to balance the thickness to your liking.

Recipe : Nutty Strawberry Smoothie

1 cup frozen strawberries
2 tbsp almond flakes. ( or place regular almonds in boiling hot water soak for 15 minutes and remove the skin, it will come off easily).
1 small very ripe banana
3 cups milk
1 cup plain yogurt
2-3 tbsp sugar or honey ( choice is yours)

Place everything in the blender and whiz it up till smooth.

  3. I'm not a milk drinker either, but believe me, you will find more calcium in yogurts or cheese than in milk. Milk is important only if you don't take calcium from other aliments.
Anyway, your smoothie looks delicious :)
