Duku Langsat

My husband brought this home once, thinking that they were longans, but they were totally different kind of fruit. First of all the size of the fruit was bigger

The flesh inside was segmented with plump little segments of flesh. The slightly perfumy flesh is quite sweet, not overly sweet .

The bigger the fruit the sweeter they are. The seed is found usually in the bigger segments and if you accidentally bite into it , it is quite bitter, so best to avoid munching the seed.

The one thing I don't like is that when you pull the skin apart it releases a sticky substance, making your fingers quite sticky. To open it, just have to squeeze near the base of the cream-coloured skin, where the stem used to hold the fruit and give a gentle squeeze with the fingertips and it will open up and you will be able to pull apart the skin easily. Make sure you don't eat the bitter seed and the white pith, that holds the segments together, which is also a little bitter.

Check out more info about this here.

Have a nice week end!!!
